Permitting
Most discharges from industrial and municipal facilities require a discharge permit. These permits will vary depending on the type of discharge (industrial wastewater, cooling tower blowdown, sanitary wastewater, stormwater, etc.) and what type of facility (manufacturing, industrial, car wash, oil and gas facility, construction site, etc.). ALTEC’s Engineers oversee state specific permits and National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits and will work with you to determine if your facility or discharge is required to be permitted. ALTEC has extensive experience with the following:
- Individual/Site Specific NPDES Permits
- General NPDES Permits
- Stormwater Discharges Associated with Construction Activity
Whether your facility is new, an existing facility, or is planning modifications that could require permitting, we will work with you in collecting any stream analytical data or flow characteristics and preparing and submitting a permit application that meets all state and federal regulations.
Compliance
NPDES permits typically require at a minimum keeping track of stream flow rates and generally require a sampling of the stream. ALTEC will provide these sampling and analytical services or train your staff in the appropriate techniques for conducting these sampling events.
ALTEC’s Engineers are also experienced in creating solutions for lowering pollutant levels when they exceed permitting limits. We will monitor the analytical results from each sampling event and keep you informed of any concerns while making recommendations to correct any permit limit excursions.
Record Keeping and Reporting
NPDES Permits will require submittal of discharge monitoring reports (DMRs) on a regularly scheduled basis. We will review your analytical results from sampling events and prepare and submit DMRs for your facility while maintaining these records as required.
